Shin Ultraman has its North American premier at Fantasia this week

North-American premiere of Shin Ultraman, plus International premiere of House Of Darkness and The King Of Pigs, first series at Fantasia

In the next few days, Fantasia will welcome international guests and will present exceptional premieres such as the horror comedy House Of Darkness by Neil LaBute and Shin Ultraman by Shinji Higuchi, adapted from the Ultraman series which impacted generations. The public will also be able to discover The King Of Pigs, a live-action adaptation of the series and the first TV-show put forward by Fantasia.

  • House of Darkness by Neil LaBute – July 22nd at 9:45 pm at the SGWU Alumni Auditorium (H-110)

An old-school battle of the sexes film that treads the line between farce and horror, Neil Labute’s latest will leave you queasy and disturbed. (International premiere)

  • Kappei by Takashi Hirano – July 23rd at 9:45 pm at the SGWU Alumni Auditorium (H-110)

Nostradamus got it wrong, so doomsday fighter Kappei has to adapt to normal life in this future classic of Japanese comedy. (North-American premiere)

  • Punta Sinistra by Renaud Gautier screening with the short film La Guêpe by Marc Beaupré – July 23rd at 7pm at the Cinéma du Musée.

A journalist goes in search of a mythical plane piloted by a Quebecer, which crashed in Punta Sinistra, on the coast of Mexico. (International premiere)

  • Artist talk: Kier-là Janisse – July 22nd at 5:30 pm at the York Amphitheater

This year, Fantasia celebrates the 10th anniversary of Kier-La Janisse’s book HOUSE OF PSYCHOTIC WOMEN : launched in 2012 at Fantasia, this book on the history of the  female neurosis in horror and exploitation films has been reedited into a new special edition featuring new  texts.

  • Shin Ultraman de Shinji Higuchi – July 21st at 6:30 pm at the SGWU Alumni Auditorium (H-110)

With Flair, impact and affection, Shinji Higuchi and Hideaki Anno reimagine Japan’s iconic, kaiju-fighting giant superhero from space. (North-American premiere)

  • The King Of Pigs  de Daejin Kim – July 24th at 3:00 pm at the Cinéma du Musée

This series combines everything that has made South Korean productions such as SQUID GAME so successful in recent years. A must-see. (North-American premiere)
