Voivod will play with the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra later this month
Few bands are as impactful throughout their career as the mighty Voivod have been throughout theirs – and yet they are still finding new ways to stretch their already insanely massive legacy all these years in.
For two nights, Montreal will have at utmost privilege to witness Voivod play with the Orchestre Symphonique De Montréal, on January 29th and 30th, conducted by Dina Gilbert, at one of the most spectacular venues in the city, no less.

“Imagine hearing iconic tracks like Holographic Thinking and Astronomy Domine in a full symphonic arrangement” the band teased on their social media platforms, and to be quite honest, I simply can’t imagine how epic these shows are going to be. Already, the way Voivod write and arrange their pieces is out of this world – add in a full symphony orchestra and minds are about to be blown away.
Back in 1999, Metallica played with the Symphony Orchestra for what would become their S&M album, but the music of Voivod is much better suited for this sort of spectacle. Already outlandish in nature; playing with the Orchestre Symphonique De Montréal has all the ingredients needed to become something of legend. Something epic beyond words.
This will be something people talk about for years to come. There’s no doubt in my mind about that. A few tickets are still available but are getting more and more scarce as we approach the show. Get your tickets here.

Although there hasn’t been an official statement made on the matter, hopefully these two shows are going to be recorded for a live album and a blu ray release. Let’s be honest, otherwise this will be a massive missed opportunity as this is sure to be an epic of absolutely massive proportions.
Here’s hoping such a release happens.
