Canada and Guatemala meet in Toronto at the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals
Canada finally knows who their opponents will be in the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Nations League in November.
Guatemala, of course, knocked Canada out of the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup in the quarterfinals on penalty kicks, which now gives Canada a chance at redemption and revenge. The two sides last met on January 17th of this year, where Canada edged Guatemala by a score of one to nil in an international friendly – but now will have the chance to oust them from tournament play.

The first leg of this two-match series will take place in Guatemala on November 13th, and then the two squads will head to Canada for a deciding match at Toronto’s BMO Field.
As Canada are one of the top four ranked sides, alongside the United States, Mexico and Panama, they were awarded an automatic trip to the quarterfinals, meaning this will be there first action at the 2026 Concacaf Nations League cup.
Canada played three games in the October international friendlies window, defeating Chile by a score of one to nil at BMO Field in Toronto, then beating Peru by a score of two to nil curtesy of a Jacob Shaffleburg brace at Stade Saputo in Montreal, before losing by a goal to nil versus the United States at Allianz Field in Minnesota.

The other Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals will see Mexico versus Jamaica, Panama versus Curacao, and the United States will take on Haiti.
The winners of those four matches will advance to the semifinals and final in March at California’s SoFi Stadium – and will also qualify for the 2027 Gold Cup.
