Ghoul
“Intermediate Level Hardcore”
Tank Crimes
Released : July 2, 2013
Creepsylvania’s Ghoul have resurfaced again, still hooded in potato sacks and still stark-raving mad.
Their newest recording is a five track EP that consists of covers from 80s era hardcore bands, some of which are pretty obscure. Kicking off with a rendition of Gwar’s “Americanized”, which also features guest vocals from none other than Gwar front-thing Oderous Urangus. I’m going to go out on a limb here, and assume that this collaboration was plotted while Ghoul was touring the USA in support of Gwar. I know, right? I’m really sticking my neck out with that tad-bit of useless information. Real detective work, piecing that together.
No leads on how the Fearless Iranians From Hell were unearthed and covered on “Blow Up The Embassy, mind you. Then again, I am also seriously surprised to hear the name Willful Neglect again. Yet here they are being covered. Ghoul’s version of “E.M.S&D” stays fairly faithful to the original with the exception of the vocals and an added guitar solo.
Next to be rehashed, is None Of The Above’s “Propaganda Control”. And truth be told, I wasn’t familiar with them until hearing this cover. What the hell did we do before the likes of YouTube? No, seriously! (Umm blind buy stuff based on how cool the covers looked? – Ed)

Saving the best and juiciest for last, is an amusing reworking of Canada’s punk rock anthem from none other than the notorious Dayglo Abortions. These cats fueled outrage in their time and I adore this track. Most will know it as “Proud To Be A Canadian”, but since Ghoul don’t live in igloos, they tinkered with the title until it read “Proud To Be Creepslyvanian.” And the song rocks! Without the igloo, there can be no Eskimos… so they buggered an orphan instead. I suppose it might have been an Eskimo orphan.
We did a little undercover detective work on these masked cabbage roll deflowering bizzaro’s and learned they might be mysteriously tied to other bands such as Exhumed, Impaled, Phobia, Dystopia, Wolves In The Throne Room and Asunder. Although our agent was discovered and couldn’t confirm these details and… come to think of it, he was an orphaned child from the Yukon. Oh Ghoul, you sick bastards!
