Lasalle Warriors vs Saint Leonard Cougars Bantam final

The Lasalle Warriors took to the field last Saturday at Stade Hebert, to face the Saint Leonard Cougars for the bantam title, capping off a season that almost didn’t happen.

The Warriors were so short on players that the team was almost forced to forfeit. What happened though, was an unbeaten season and a trip to the cup finals to play the Cougars. The sort of stuff fairy tales are made of.

The Warriors dominated from the get go and scored an early touchdown en route to a fantastic victory in a game where they never trailed. Saint Leonard came out very strong to start the second half. And looked as if they just might pull even, bringing the score to 18-15.

While the nervous chatter and sounds of nails being chewed to the quick began to mount among those cheering on Lasalle. But the Warriors responded well and didn’t stumble while under pressure. Carrying the ball back over their opponents end zone and increasing their lead once more. Saint Leonard too showed fight. They gave it their all, right up to when the final seconds ticked off the clock.

The intensity levels were in high gear. As were the emotions. It was a beautiful fall day. Ripe for a football game. Stade Hebert was well stocked, as they cheered on their teams. The Saint Leonard Cougars gave it their all, but fell short.

Having won, the Lasalle Warriors will now have the chance to challenge the cup winner from Ottawa at Stade Hebert this coming Saturday, November 10th. What an achievement it would be if the Warriors could emerge on top once more and earn the inter-provincial title. Come out and support the local kids!
