Montreal has signed Alexandra Poznikoff and Melodie Daoust following recent injuries to Kennedy Marchment and Claire Dalton

Montreal will look a little bit different when they take the ice at the Verdun auditorium later today, as the team today announce a slew of roster changes.

It appears that forward Kennedy Marchment’s injury is more serious that originally thought as Montreal announced today that she has been placed on the long-term injury reserve list. Marchment, he 26-year-old from Marmora, Ontario, has appeared in nine games for Montreal this season, and has recorded a goal and an assist in that time.

Montreal also announced that Claire Dalton will miss time for preventative measures. Dalton, the 24-year-old native of Toronto, Ontario, has been a key component on Montreal’s offense this year, having notched five goals and an assist in thirteen contests so far this season. Her hat-trick helped propel Montreal to a 6-3 victory over Ottawa last week. An injury at the 2022 Olympics put her career in doubt and possibly the reason why the former Olympic MVP and two-time gold medalist has yet to play in the PWHL. At the time of her injury, Daoust was considered one of the best offensive forwards in the world.

In response, Montreal has inked 27-year-old Edmonton, Alberta native Alexandra Poznikoff to a one-year standard player agreement. Poznikoff represented Canada at the 2017 Winter Universiade, scoring three points in five games helping the Canadians to win the silver medals

The team also announced that Melodie Daoust has been signed to a ten-day contract and will also be in action, making her debut later on today. Daoust, the 32-year-old from Vallyfield, Quebec, is a three-time Canadian Olympian that has played alongside Montreal captain Marie-Philip Poulin for the majority of their professional careers. She is expected to play on Montreal’s top line with Poulin and Laura Stacey.
