Skinny Puppy announce final tour

February 07, 2023
Skinny Puppy have announced their last ever tour, with Lead Into Gold as support.

Forty years after their initial inception, Skinny Puppy are calling it quits with one last jaunt around North America. Among the founders of the industrial rock and electro-industrial genres, Canada’s Skippy Puppy began in 1982, initially as a side project Kevin Crompton while he was in the new wave band Images In Vogue, Skinny Puppy evolved into a full-time project with the addition of vocalist Kevin Ogilvie.

Through thirteen studio albums and four decades, they established themselves as one of the giants of the genre. There hasn’t been any new music from Skinny Puppy since their thirteenth album, Weapon, dropped in 2013 – and now it would seem that Weapon will in fact become their final act.

It has also been eight years since Skinny Puppy last toured, and it would seem there are plans to add further dates along the west coast following this leg of their farewell tour.

Paul Ion Barker’s (Ministry) solo project, Lead Into Gold, will be the direct support for the tour ahead of the release of their third album, The Eternal Present, via Toronto-based Artoffact Records on April 21, 2023.

“I’ve always loved Skinny Puppy and their unique shows,” says Barker, ” so I’m thrilled to be a part of this tour. Plus it’s always fun to tour with friends.”

A producer, composer, and touring musician who has toured as a member of Puscifer and collaborated with the likes of Jello Biafra, Ian MacKaye, Timothy Leary, and William S. Burroughs, Barker is looking forward to getting back on the road with his friends in Skinny Puppy. In his extensive musical history, he has also brought projects with Lard, Pailhead, Revolting Cocks, Flowering Blight, USSA, I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness, and many more to fruition.
