Zhihao Yang and Renjie Zhao take gold in Men’s 10M synchronized

Like clockwork, the Chinese diving team were comfortable winners of the gold medal this afternoon, as Zhihao Yang and Renjie Zhao performed a set of incredible dives in the Men’s 10-meter Synchronized diving finals.

Yang and Zhao voted themselves into the top spot with a near-perfect forward 4½ somersaults in their penultimate dive, before cementing their victory with an incredible back 2½ somersaults, 2½ twists.

To illustrate just how dominate the duo of Yang and Zhao were, they finished a whopping 68.82 points ahead of the silver medalist duo of Kevin Berlin Reyes and Randal Willars Valdez of Mexico.

Just over a point separated the silver medalists from the bronze medal winning Great Britain pairing of Ben Cutmore and Euan McCabe.

Canada’s Benjamin Tessier and Matt Cullen finished in fifth spot behind the Neutral athletes Nikita Shleiker and Ruslan Ternovoi.

Rounding out the group, were Mark Hrytsenko and Oleksii Sereda of the Ukraine in sixth, Italy’s Simone Conte and Ruccardo Giovannini in seventh and Australia’s Jonah Mercieca and Cassiel Rousseau in ninth place.

Unfortunately, the United States of America had to pull out of the competition following a lower-body injury sustained by Jordan Rzepka in the penultimate round of dives. The duo of Rzepka and Carson Tyler didn’t return for their final dive attempt.
