Montreal Roses have a chance at history on August 29th
Two weekends ago, sporting history was once again made in the city of Montreal, when a record number of attendees showed up at the Bell Center to support women’s professional basketball.
20 996 fans crammed into the Bell Center, the home of the legendary Montreal Canadiens – the largest NHL arena in the league and second biggest, by just over a thousand seats, to SKA Arena in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

This building also holds the PWHL attendance record, obtained during a Montreal Victoire game this past season as the Montrealer’s charged their way to their first Walter Cup.
Now, with the WNBA and PWHL attendance records firmly part of Montreal history, the Montreal Roses have a shot at adding their name to list of attendance records in late August – and you can help make that happen.
On August 29th, the Roses will host the Halifax Tide at Stade Saputo, the home of CF Montreal. An MLS level stadium.
Currently, the NSL attendance records sits at 14 518, which was set just two weeks into the leagues inaugural season, when the Roses visited AFC Toronto at BMO Field – and now, the team and its fans have a chance to make a statement by showing up en masse to Stade Saputo.
Now, Stade Saputo has a capacity to host 20 801 people. Since their beginnings, or even before that, the Rosses have been about reaching dreams. Their badge is symbolic of exactly that. A blue rose that is considered inconceivable in nature – yet not is proudly the crest of the Montreal Roses. Symbolic of how much work, hope, love and dreaming went into this team and league a reality.
At time of press, the second season in the Northern Super League is at its halfway stage, with the Roses sat firmly in second place, just four points back of the Ottawa Rapid.
How great would it be, for the city of Montreal to be able to boast that the three largest women’s professional leagues in Canada, all have seen attendance records set in this city? What an honor that would be, and a testimony to how great the fans here are as well.

First things first though, before August 29th arrives, the Roses have three home games to play over at Stade Boreale in Laval. July 23rd they host AFC Toronto, the Halifax Tides are in town on August 7th and the Calgary Wild on August 23rd.
Then, on August 29th, Montreal has a chance to history by filling up Stade Saputo as the Montreal Roses host the Halifax Tides at 2pm EST. Tickets can be purchased here and start at just $17.
