Prodigy Jiaxi Cui heads the womens 10M platform on day two
At just thirteen years of age, China’s Jiaxi Cui is already leading her peers, and did so today in front of an astonished audience at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal today, on the second day of competition at the World Cup Of Diving.
As testimony to China’s impeccable diving program, Linjing Jiang, who qualified in second place is herself just fifteen years of age. In third place, was twenty-year-old Wei Lu who won’t be able to compete in the finals on Sunday due to a maximum of two athletes per nation being able to qualify.

Canada’s Kate Miller qualified in ninth position, while fellow Canadian Katelyn Fung narrowly missed punching her ticket to the finals, coming in just behind sixteen year old Suri Zoe Cueva Lobato of Mexico.
In fact, it was a day filled with youth achievement, as the USA’s Ellireese Niday qualified in fourth position, at the tender young age of fourteen years old. To put that into better perspective, the eldest competitor in the field was twenty-eight year old Samantha Jimenez Santos who came in seventeenth place and didn’t move on to the final round.
Also qualifying were Rin Kaneto (Jpn), Jin Mi (Prk), Ana Carvajal (Esp), Anna Konanykhina (Nab), Sarah Jodoin Di Maria (Itl), Pauline Alexandra Pfeif (Ger) and Ellie Cole of Australia.
These are the first competitions held at the historic Olympic Stadium, which hosted the Summer Olympics fifty years ago, since an arsonist protesting the high cost to repair the stadiums roof set fire to the facilities just outside the pool area. Extensive repairs were needed, including cleaning nine kilometers of ventilation ducts which also prevented Montreal from hosting the 2025 World Aquatics World Cup.
While construction on the roof is on going, competition is able to return to the pools.
