Zongyuan Wang and Jiuyuan Zheng top mens 3-meter on day two at World Cup Of Diving

China’s impressive showing at the World Cup Of Diving continued in the morning session as Zongyuan Wang and Jiuyuan Zheng put on a clinic in Montreal.

Chinese divers lead both categories on the opening day of competition, and have carried that over into day two. Yesterday, China’s Yiwen Chen dominated the 3 meter board in the womens category, and Junjie Lian topped the leader board on the mens 10 meter board.

Canada’s Carson Paul qualified in third position to the raucous applause of the crowd at the Olympic Stadium, while fellow Canadian Nathan Zsombor-Murray also qualified in ninth position.

A third Canadian, Cedric Fofana, finished outside of the top twelve and won’t be advancing to the finals on Sunday at 7:30pm. The World Aquatics have a rule that only two athletes per nation can advance anyway, which is something that has kept China from being even more dominant than they have already been so far.

Also advancing to the finals are Osmar Ibarra Olvera (Mex), Jack Ryan (USA), Louis Fillipe Urbie Bermudez (Col), Jules Bouyer (Fra), Nikita Schleikher (Nab), Juan Manuel Celaya Hernandez (Mex), Ross Haslam (Gbr) and Lou Noel Guy Massenberg (Ger).

The women return to competition this afternoon on the 10-meter platform. Action begins at 2:30pm.

Then, to cap off the second day of competition, the team event will take place this evening at 6:30pm.

Tickets for today’s afternoon and evening session are available, as are a few remaining tickets for the weekend events, but those are moving rapidly.
